Norfolk Crush is a facility that processes 110k bushels of soybeans daily into soybean oil, soybean meal, and soy hull pellets. The Grain Originator will be responsible for procuring soybeans and providing risk management services to local farmers. This position will help the Director of Trading and Risk Management achieve Company goals while maintaining a strong relationship with customers, both external and internal. The Grain Originator will also help with other daily activities to deliver the best customer experience to the farmer and other commercial companies.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, organize, and implement the organization’s grain origination playbook and Risk Management guidelines.
  • Monitor originated bushels and logistics for all commodities being received to the location and effectively communicating with internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in the execution of short and long-range business objectives under the direction of the CEO and Director of Trading and Risk Management.

Qualifications:

  • Degree preferred.

The Senior Merchandiser will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day trading and logistics activity of the plant. This position will help the Director of Trading and Merchandising achieve Company goals while maintaining a strong relationship with customers, both external and internal. The Senior Merchandiser will also help train other merchandisers and originators to deliver the best customer experience to the farmer and other commercial companies.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, repair, and maintain conveyance, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and soybean processing equipment.
  • Perform welding, torch, and plasma cutting in order to complete various repairs.
  • Complete daily paperwork including equipment inspection and location parts for other departments.
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems and complete repairs when appropriate.
  • Maintain plant sanitation standards.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least five (5) years of soybean processing or ethanol plant experience.

The Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the financial and accounting activities related to the operations of the newly formed organization. Accounting Managers will be responsible for accurately recording, reconciling, and reporting grain transactions, inventory, and financial data. This role requires a strong understanding of both GAAP and agricultural commodities trading, in addition to effective leadership and communication.   

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform and manage general accounting activities including managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, capital spending, and payroll processes.
  • Assist the CFO with the accurate and timely weekly/monthly/annual financial statement close processes, including variance analysis and ad hoc reporting.
  • Assist with developing financial and operational reports and KPI’s for Senior Management.
  • Assist the CFO and Senior Management with forecasting and annual budgets.
  • Work with CFO in developing and maintaining internal control procedures to mitigate risk and reduce negative variance to forecast/plan.
  • Manage accounting activities related to grain operations by assisting in the development and supervision in the recording of settlements, reconciling rail and truck shipments, and balancing open positions, and marketing positions on a systematic cadence.

This includes monitoring of the flow of materials through the process and ensuring the highest quality standards and put through. Operators will work through 9 level progressions starting with level 1A where subsequent levels of pay and qualification can be obtained, evaluated every 6 months.     

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day operations of the plant, including hitting daily production targets, communication of maintenance issues, assisting maintenance, ensuring quality targets are met, assisting in project design and implementation, and daily cleaning.
  • Provide operational information of the plant including product inventories and quality.
  • Oversee all plant process and performance including, but not limited to taking field measurements, testing field instruments for accuracy, monitoring critical safety devices, and communicating maintenance issues. 
  • Lead, coach, and mentor peer Operators to achieve goals and ensure the safe and efficient operation, production, and continuous improvement of the plant.
  • Communicate to plant leadership any operational, logistical, or technical issues, including any mechanical breakdowns.
  • Maintains and adheres to quality standards in the plant that satisfy the requirements of ISO standards along with working closely with the Quality Assurance Manager and Quality Assurance Technician.
  • Maintain designated sanitary schedule to plant standards.
  • Advise plant management of any staffing requirements, operational issues or shortcomings that could affect the operations.

Is the primary contact with local authorities and ensures adherence to all legal and regulatory aspects of running the operation: OSHA, EPA, Department of Ag, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline desired. 
  • 1+ years’ manufacturing experience in feed/food/chemical processing plant knowledge preferred.

Operators will work through 9 level progressions starting with level 1A where subsequent levels of pay and qualification can be obtained and evaluated every 6 months.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  •  Ensure grain is unloaded into the proper bin and quality is maintained.
  • Sample and blend bins to provide a consistent product for the crush process.
  • Assist with other tasks including but not limited to loading trucks, moving grain, operating payloader/skid steer, housekeeping, moving and loading railcars, and other miscellaneous tasks as needed.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor peer Operators to achieve goals and ensure the safe and efficient operation, production, and continuous improvement of the plant.

POSITION PURPOSE

As a Grain Accountant, you will work in a fast-paced team environment, interacting with location employees and our soybean vendors. Main responsibilities are accounting focused, including data entry of input and output documents, reconciliation of tickets to contract, vouching of payments and billing, as well as other related duties. This position supports the CFO and CRO commodity manager with commodity payments and receipts by providing oversight for the commodity payment and billing process and ensuring all commodity activity is properly recorded.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Financial Analysis, Reporting, and Customer Service

  • Completes and reviews daily grain accounting duties including preparation of commodity position validation and analysis, ensuring all risk positions are reported and monitored.
  • Partner with commodity manager on customer inquiries related to commodity contracts and payments. Enters, organizes and manages commodity purchase contracts and customer liens.
  • Assist Team with adherence to local and Federal grain handling regulations.
  • Perform customer account management and reconciliation for Customer and General Ledger. Assist with monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
  • Monthly commodity reporting. Prepare government and industry reports as assigned.

Job Complexity:

  • Ability to interpret financial data and present results to management in a clear and concise format.
  • Must be able to investigate variances that arise from financial activity, determine causes and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial reporting and analysis and work with local management to drive business results.
  • Analytical/Design – Have deductive reasoning skills to evaluate accounting/finance outcomes back to system process.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
